SWMRS and The Frights March 4 at The Fire

SWMRS and The Frights are two California-based alternative bands with pretty similar vibes. Both of their new albums were released Feb. 12 and instantly created a lot of buzz. I personally have been listening to The Frights’ “You Are Going to Hate This” an unhealthy amount since it came out. These bands are on a quick rise to fame, so seeing them now would be ideal. Give them both a listen and see how hard it is to resist headbanging.

Troye Sivan March 4 at The Fillmore

Released in December 2015, “Blue Neighborhood” unexpectedly resulted in two tours by popular demand. Singer, songwriter and YouTube star Troye Sivan has topped the charts with his catchy hooks and doleful, yet equally dreamy voice. Other artists who have admitted to being fans of Sivan’s are Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and even Adele. The Blue Neighborhood Tour started early this month in Vancouver and is set to end in May in Stockholm. Word about this guy has spread like wildfire and tickets are selling quickly, so snag one while you still can.

Miike Snow March 5 at Theatre of Living Arts

Swedish indie-pop band Miike Snow are scheduled to go on tour with their third album “iii” due to be released on March 4. The band recently dropped some new singles (“The Heart of Me” and “I Feel The Weight”) in support of the new album. They also reworked Yoko Ono’s “Catman” for her new album “Yes, I’m a Witch Too.” It’s safe to say these guys are doing big things, so seeing them perform a day after “iii” is released would be really cool.

Nap Eyes March 10 at Boot and Saddle

If you are a fan of the Velvet Underground or Lou Reed than boy do I have something for you! Nap Eyes, fronted by Nigel Chapman, hail all the way from Halifax, Nova Scotia. They have just released their second album “Fish Thought Rock Scale” which features great little indie rock numbers such as “Mixer” and “Click Clack.” Boot and Saddle provides a great venue to take in the thoughtful lyrics and relaxed sound of Nap Eyes, don’t miss it!

Silento March 13 at The Fillmore

In case you’re wondering who this is, Silento is the teenager from Atlanta who blessed us with the masterpiece “Watch Me” in 2015. This song made over $2,000,000 in just one week. Come out and see Silento whip, nae nae, and everything in between.
