Sondre Lerche album release

Sondre Lerche is gearing up for the upcoming release of his self-titled album out June 7 on Mona Records. As part of his North American tour, Lerche is performing at World Café Live this Friday, June 3, to perform songs off his new album, “Consequence Of Sound.” He has received praise for “showcasing his best traits as a songwriter.” With an overwhelming response, Lerche’s new album will be an Amazon’s “Deal Of The Day”  June 7 and radio stations across the country are jumping on first single “Private Caller,” which can be viewed online now. The Los Angeles Times calls Lerche “one of the most talented names in contemporary pop” with “a live performance that should not be missed.”

Pi Kappa Palooza

Pi Kappa Palooza is Pi Kappa Phi’s annual charity concert. This year will be the fourth annual Palooza concert. The mission of the event is to raise awareness for several different charities, both national and local, while also enjoying some great music, barbeque, and whatever else we have in store. This years bands include: Dan HL from Dear Havanah, b.FUNK, Southern Fried Funk,Kill3r Whale and W.C. Lindsay, who is a local artist from Drexel. So make sure you come out and support your favorite charity at this year Pi Kappa Palooza!

Boombox Logic Deluxe Edition Release

The Music Industry Program here at Drexel has complied a show filled with releases and a line up from “Kuf Knotz” (MAD Dragon Records), “The Spinning Leaves” (MAD Dragon Records), “Hezekiah Jones” (MAD Dragon Records), “Money Fame and Love” (MAD Dragon Records), “When I Was 12” (Bantic Media), “D&M” (Drako Booking), “Gypsy Death and You” (Unleashed7 Compilation), “Wild Rompit” (Unleashed7 Compilation), “Slo-Mo” (Unleashed7 Compilation) and “Night Fevers” (Big Fish Management). MAD Dragon Records will be releasing their “Unleashed7” compilation at the show, where everyone will receive a free copy at the door. Some of the acts featured on “Unleashed7” are Drexel student bands found through Bantic Media and some of the acts are local, up and coming bands.

Soundgarden reunion tour

Soundgarden is back together after a 13-year absence from the stage. Soundgarden has redefined rock music for a whole generation and had a revolutionary impact on the course of musical history. The band will tour North America in July 2011 (playing Philly July 13), and head back into the studio to finish their first new LP in over 15 years. The 17-city summer tour and is inviting aspiring photographers to submit their best photograph of an event for the chance to join the band on one date of their 2011 summer tour. One photographer will be chosen in each market to capture the energy of the band and their fans. Soundgarden will choose 17 winners, one winner for each tour date, from all qualified submissions with special consideration for the top voted entries. Each winner will be given a guest photo pass for one date of Soundgarden’s 2011 North American tour to photograph the band during their live performance.

Night Market Philadelphia

Night Markets Philadelphia is designed to celebrate the city’s food trucks and ethnic restaurants. This is the second of six planned Night Market Philadelphia events to be held in neighborhoods throughout the city. The popular street-food festival, hosted by The Food Trust, will transform the parking lot at 39th and Market streets in University City into an urban oasis of food and fun. This lively outdoor festival will feature 30-plus food carts and restaurants serving the city’s best ethnic and regional American street eats including gourmet Guapos Tacos, from Iron Chef Jose Garces; grilled hot dogs from Dapper Dogs; Nomad Pizza, with its wood-fired oven in a 1949 REO Speedwagon; Indonesian foods from Hardena and the unique ice cream flavors of Little Baby’s Ice Cream. Night Market will include The Blockley Beer Garden, with top local beers from brewers such as Victory, Rogue, Troegs and Yards. In addition, Night Market Philadelphia in University City will feature local bands, fire performers and crafts. Two more Night Markets are planned for 2011.
