Comedian Dane Cook will perform at Campus Activities Board's 5th Annual Fall Comedy Show Dec. 3. Cook has made several appearances on television, including Comedy Central Presents, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Show with Craig Kilborn and Premium Blend.
President Emeritus and Board of Trustees member Harold Myers died of multiple organ failure at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida Oct. 22 at the age of 89. Myers, who has served the University community for 50 years, began his career with a bachelor's of science degree in commerce and engineering from then Drexel Institute of Technology in 1938 during a time of political and economic uncertainty.
Elections for several positions within the Undergraduate Student Government Association will be held starting Nov. 8 and will be conducted entirely online. Nicknamed a "naked election" by the USGA Web site, the online voting process can be done from a student's dorm room via the Internet connection.
Dalton Paxman, regional health administrator for the United States Public Health Service, spoke at the School of Public Health Grand Rounds on the Health People 2010 Project Nov. 4. Paxman, a research toxicologist by training, is also the Health and Human Services department lead on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Asthma Initiative, a joint effort with the Environmental Protection Agency.
Almost 150 University alumni filled the lobby of Main Building Oct. 29, for a casual reunion in support of Alpha Pi Lambda fraternity. Alumni came from across the east coast to reunite with former classmates and fellow fraternity members. "Alpha Pi Lambda cannot survive without Drexel," David Kaganovsky said.
Ashley Hess, a junior majoring in culinary arts, has won the "Yo! A Cook's Off: Part Deux" competition sponsored by the Philadelphia Daily News Oct. 27. The event was hosted and judged by Georges Perrier, the famous local chef and founder of Le Bec Fin. Hess defeated Orleans Technical Institute student Clive Brooks in the final match.
