Men's basketball enters season with higher expectations

The Drexel men's basketball team comes into the 2004-05 season in a different place than they normally are. Last season, the Dragons were picked to finish fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association. Before that they were picked, sixth, eighth, and ninth. They have always exceeded those expectations though.

To find out exactly where a team stands when it comes to the development of their basketball program, fans don't have to look any farther than the out-of-conference schedule. The OOC schedule is played before conference games, for the most part, and determines the status of the team, and the league they play in, before the start of the new year.

Bruiser Flint announced Nov. 12 that high school seniors Tramayne Hawthorne and Scott Rodgers have signed National Letter of Intent to play at Drexel University. Hawthorne, a 6-foot senior guard from Steelton, Pa., wanted to get he recruiting out of the way before the start of his senior season.

Two high schoolers sign LOI to Drexel for 05-06

The Drexel women's basketball nailed two top players in the early period of recruiting Nov. 15 when they signed guards Carly Golden and Allison Lupariello to play for Drexel in the 2005-06 season. Golden, a point guard out of New Jersey, averaged 11.3 points per game and six assists per game last season where she led her team to the New Jersey State Championship.
