Davidson, along with two representatives from the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Delaware Valley, held four one-hour seminars at the University on financial responsibility Sept.

Drexel University has been selected by NBC News to host the televised Democratic presidential primary debate on Oct. 30, according to an email from President Constantine Papadakis. "This event is an excellent expression of Drexel's mission of education, public service and civic engagement," the email sent shortly before 11 a.

Update: Democrat debate to take place in Main Building

MSNBC has announced "NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams will moderate the Democratic presidential primary debate at Drexel University on Oct 30. from 9-11 p.m. MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines confirmed that the debate will take place in the Main Building on campus and referred questions regarding student tickets to Drexel officials.

Facebook safety under scrutiny

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced Sept. 24 that his office has subpoenaed Facebook as part of an investigation into how the web site protects underage users from sexually explicit content, according a press release. The subpoena was issued after investigators in Cuomo's office, posing as minors set up profiles and quickly received sexual advances from adults, according to the release.

Dorm guest policy amended

The overnight guest policy for all residence halls has been loosened for upperclassmen staying in Drexel residence halls. All upper classmen within the residence halls now are permitted to have up to three overnight guests per night, up to three consecutive days.

Knife-wielding suspect arrested

Two Drexel students were robbed and another threatened with a knife in a series of crimes occurring between Aug. 25 and Aug. 30. The first incident occurred when students reported a black male, possibly armed with a knife, in the area of 35th and Lancaster Avenue shortly before 4 a.

Work-study: the basics

A toddler and a Philadelphia Police officer are among the latest victims of gun violence in West Philadelphia after two daylight shootings Sept. 24. A 21-year-old Philadelphia Police officer was shot in the face after stopping a car near 51 and Market Street shortly after 9 a.

Freshman face week one

Blood Drive coming back to campus Nov. 1

The Colonial Athletic Association Blood Challenge will be coming to Drexel University on Nov. 1 this year. By donating a little more than 713 pints of blood in the previous year, Drexel is the reigning CAA Blood Challenge champion over other schools like Georgia State, James Madison, Hofstra, and rival University of Delaware.

Rendell Proposes Energy Plan, Links it to Iraq Governor Ed Rendell proposed his energy plan to the Harrisburg State Legislature on September 24 and urged the members by connecting Pennsylvania's current plan to the war in Iraq. Rendell's plan calls for $850 million to be put into an Energy Independence Fund.

Study: Diet soda causes problems

(U-WIRE) CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Diet sodas may taste like regular sodas, but researchers have found fewer calories aren't a healthier option. New research from the Boston University School of Medicine found that adults who drink one or more diet sodas per day are 50 percent more likely to develop different health-hindering factors such as excess weight, increased blood pressure and cholesterol.
