Crime and Policy Violation Report Oct. 8 to Oct. 14

The following are crimes that occurred on or near campus and were reported to The Triangle by the Drexel University Department of Public Safety between Oct. 8 and Oct. 14.  All information included in this report is taken from law enforcement or DPS incident reports.

ROBBERY (1)

Oct. 13, 5:10 p.m. 400 Block of North 35th Street

A Drexel student reported that he was approached by two unknown males between the ages of 14 and 16 years. One male punched him and the second grabbed his cell phone. The males fled on foot going north on 35th Street.  The student received only minor injuries.

THEFT (9)

Oct. 8, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 3100 block of Chestnut Street

A Drexel employee reported that an unknown person(s) took her handbag from a secured closet. No sign of forced entry.

Oct. 8 to Oct. 9, 9:50 p.m. to 10:05 p.m. 3200 block of Chestnut Street

A Drexel student reported that he locked his bike to a bike rack and observed two males walking east on Chestnut Street with his bike. The next day Drexel police arrested two males for another bike theft and the males admitted to taking the students bike in addition to the other one.

Oct. 8 to Oct. 9, 3500 block of Market Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that between unknown person(s) entered his unlocked food truck and took items that were left unsecured.

Oct. 8 to Oct. 10, 200 block of North 34th Street

A Drexel student reported that an unknown person(s) took his bicycle, which had been secured to a bike rack with a cable lock.

Oct. 9, 2:10 p.m. 3300 block of Market Street

Drexel police arrested two males after they were observed cutting a cable lock and taking a bicycle belonging to a Drexel student. The bicycle was recovered and the offenders admitting to taking other bikes on Drexel’s campus.

Oct. 9 to Oct. 10, 3400 block of Market Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that unknown person(s) entered her lunch truck by breaking a window and stole a cell phone and cash.

 

Oct. 10 to Oct. 12, North 34th Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) entered her lunch truck, although there was no sign of force, and took cash that was left visible from the outside.

Oct. 13, 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 3400 block of Baring Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) took two bicycles that were left unsecured in his rear yard.

Oct. 14, 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 3200 block of Powelton Avenue

A Drexel student reported that on unknown person(s) took his laptop computer that was left unattended on a table.

VANDALISM (1)

Oct. 11, 1 a.m. to 11 a.m. South 33rd Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) broke the window to his truck, entered the truck and ransacked the interior.

POLICY VIOLATIONS (8)

During the period covered in this report, there were seven Policy Violations for alcohol and one policy violation for drugs. The reports were sent to the Office of Student Conduct for review.
