Crime and Policy Violation Report Oct. 1 to Oct. 7

The following crimes occurred on or near campus and were reported to The Triangle by the Drexel University Department of Public Safety between Oct. 1, 2014 and Oct. 7, 2014. All information included in this report is taken from law enforcement or DPS incident reports.

ASSAULT (3)

Oct. 4, 1:05 a.m. 3200 block Market Street

A Drexel student reported that an unknown male walked by her and struck her on the right side of her face.  She received only minor injuries.

Oct. 4, 12:05 a.m. 400 block of North 31st Street

A Drexel student was arrested for assaulting a Drexel police officer while he was originally being arrested for another matter. The student punched the police officer and was promptly arrested.

Oct. 4, 8:21 p.m. 3200 block of Lancaster Walk

A Drexel student reported that he was struck in the face by one of three males who were walking by him. He received no lasting injuries.

MURDER (1)

3200 block of Summer Street

A non-Drexel affiliate was stabbed to death after being involved in a dispute with another male inside his residence. The offender was arrested on site.

THEFT (10)

Oct. 2, 4:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. North 32nd Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) entered his truck by breaking a window and took cash that was visible from the outside.

Oct. 2, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 3200 block of Chestnut Street

A Drexel student reported that an unknown person(s) stole her debit card and made various purchases without permission.

Oct. 3, 3400 block of Chestnut Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that she left her handbag unattended in a hallway for a period of time and when she returned unknown person(s) had taken her iPhone and cash from the bag.

Oct. 3, 9:58 a.m. to 11 a.m. 3100 block of Market Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) took his bicycle that was secured to a bike rack with a cable lock.

Oct. 4 to Oct. 5, 3400 block of Ludlow Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) broke the window to his vehicle and took a GPS device that was visible from the outside.

Oct. 5, 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. North 33rd Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) entered his truck by breaking a window and took cash from the register.

Oct. 5, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 1500 block of Race Street

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that unknown person(s) broke his car window and took a laptop computer that was visible from the outside.

Oc.t 5, 8 p.m. to 10:25 p.m. 3400 block of Baring Street

A Drexel student reported that unknown person(s) took her bicycle that was secured to her porch with a cable lock.

Oct. 6, 10:50 a.m. to 5 p.m. 3300 block of Market Street

A Drexel student reported that unknown person(s) took her bicycle that was secured to a bike rack with a cable lock.

Oct. 6, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 3500 block of Lancaster Avenue

A non-Drexel affiliate reported that an unknown person(s) took her bicycle that was secured with a cable lock.

WEAPONS (1)

Oct. 4, 1:55 a.m. South 34th Street

Drexel Police arrested a non-Drexel affiliate after he was found to be in possession of a handgun.

POLICY VIOLATIONS (10)

During the period covered in this report, there were ten (10) policy violations for alcohol. The reports were sent to the Office of Student Conduct for review.
