Dear Editor,
Being at a university in the city provides students many opportunities. One of those is the ability to volunteer and make a difference in your community.
The Community Alumni Network at Drexel University (CAN DU), a nationally recognized outreach program of the Drexel University Alumni Association, is leading a community service project at Morris Park Nov. 6, along with campus and community partners. The park is located at 68th Street and Malvern Avenue.
Drexel alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends are invited to volunteer for this day of service, where we will work with representatives from the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation from 1 to 4 p.m. to help clean and clear a section of the park to beautify it and prepare it for winter. Projects will include creating a trail through the park, planting trees and wildflowers, constructing and installing park benches and tables, as well as general cleanup and clearing debris.
CAN DU supports Drexel University alumni, students, faculty and staff in making a difference in our community. This group embraces civic engagement, social responsibility, giving back, volunteerism and leadership development. Each year CAN DU holds two service projects in our West Philadelphia neighborhood, either at a local park or a school in need. These projects bring out hundreds of volunteers for a fulfilling day of giving back to the community. If you would ever like to volunteer, CAN DU is the perfect group to conact.
We hope you and your classmates will join CAN DU on Sunday, Nov. 6, as we work together to beautify Morris Park! For more information and to register, visit drexel.edu/alumni/CANDU.
