Breaking Retail Ground

Independent and international retailers alike are breaking ground in Philadelphia, with a slew of stellar new shops opening this spring and summer.

UNIQLO

According to Racked Philly, UNIQLO, which celebrated its grand opening at King of Prussia Mall is only the first of three locations to reside in the Philadelphia metro area. Shoppers will also be able find the Japanese retailer in the Willow Grove Park Mall and on Chestnut Street later this year.

Century 21

A fixture in New York’s discount designer shopping scene, Century 21 is slated to take its place as an anchor in The Gallery. According to information revealed on Century 21’s Twitter account, the store will open in the fall of this year.

Nordstrom Rack

Bargain shoppers, rejoice! Nordstrom Rack will fill the void left by the dearly departed Daffy’s at 17th and Chestnut streets. Center city is bound to become a discount designer free-for-all, and ailing college students are certainly not complaining.

Calypso St. Barth

Opening in July 2014, Calypso St. Barth will bring its luxurious lifestyle sensibility to 16th and Walnut streets. Alongside their own brand of resort wear, the retailer will carry a selection of third-party home goods and accessories to cater to the jet-set Philadelphian.

Vince

According to Racked Philly, Vince will take over the corner location recently vacated by Juicy Couture on 17th and Walnut streets. Scheduled to open as early as this summer, the brand’s new location will bring with it a slew of high-quality basics with a forward-thinking twist, not to mention a stellar collection of leather goods.

Duke & Winston

Already a fixture on the independent designer scene, Duke and Winston opened a location at 1822 Chestnut St. In addition to the brand’s trademark men’s tees and ties, this larger location will also carry a new line of highly anticipated women’s merchandise.
