New food trucks on campus include Butter, Jerry’s Kitchen
One of the greatest perks of becoming a sophomore at Drexel University is being released from the freshman mandatory meal plan, thereby becoming free to enjoy the multitude of delicious food trucks on campus. Indeed, food trucks are so popular around here that various big names in the Philadelphia food scene have deemed the intersection of 33rd and Arch streets the “Food Truck Mecca.”

South Street hosts Night Market
The ever-popular Philadelphia Night Market returned for the third time this year Aug. 15, bringing together over 80 food and drink vendors for a summer extravaganza on South Street. Their largest event yet, Night Market, hosted by The Food Trust, spanned nine blocks from Front Street to 9th Street from 6 to 10 p.m. The pleasant summer weather and usual Thursday night South Street activity brought out visitors in no short supply, creating possibly the largest crowd that Night Market has ever seen.

Multi-cultural food truck by DU alum
Robert Zapata, a 2002 graduate of Drexel University with a degree in hotel and restaurant management, returns to his alma mater to start up a new food truck featuring a multicultural menu. Working as a dynamic husband-wife duo, Robert and Nuruk Zapata own Cucina Zapata. Popularly nicknamed Cucina by Drexel students, the truck will be looking for you — literally. Decorated with two large eyes at the front windshield, the brightly decorated Cucina is found at 31st and Ludlow streets.

Foo Truck takes Chinese food to a new level for Drexel students
Asian food is in full throttle in University City — even in the land of food trucks. Ranging from Chinese to Japanese at places such as Le Anh and KoJa, respectively, the possibilities are endless. However, rarely have I seen all types of Asian food wrapped up together — literally.
