Gov Ball lineup set to start the summer strong
Thousands will flock to Randall’s Island in New York City June 3-5 for the Governors Ball Music Festival. The festival was launched in 2011 and it has grown into one of the premier music events in North America, right up there with the likes of Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. The lineups of past Gov Balls have been stellar and this year is no different. With the Strokes, the Killers and Kanye West headlining this year’s festival, Gov Ball 2016 is the perfect way to kick off the summer.

GoFundMe for annual music festival opened in Emily Selke’s honor
Drexel University student Ashley Kuhn and alumna Haley Holmes created a GoFundMe campaign May 19 in an effort to remember the recently deceased Drexel graduate Emily Selke, one of the passengers of the Germanwings Flight 9525. Kuhn and Holmes sought to honor both Selke’s memory and the other passengers by using GoFundMe to host an annual music festival on the day of the crash to raise money for music industry students who wish to study or intern abroad. Within two days, the page has received more than $6,000 in donations and is spreading across all forms of media.

Business festival pops in the quad
The festival known as Recess made its way to Drexel as part of its nationwide tour April 8. The events of the festival took place both in front of Gerri C. Music festival hits the Trocadero
The Brotherly Breakdown Festival rolled into Philadelphia Jan. 5. Taking place between The Trocadero main stage and the balcony, a total of 10 local bands came together for this awesome show. I got there as the doors opened at 6 p.m. and headed upstairs to catch the first band playing, which was a three-piece band called Home Again from my hometown of Bensalem, Pa. They were a great band to open the show, exuded an awesome stage presence and had a few rows of friends and fans screaming the words to all their songs.

Dayglow, the ultimate paint party with hardcore beats
“I awaited as the clock turned 12, watching every second go by, just to ensure I bought my Dayglow ticket,” my roommate said two months ago. I thought she was crazy, only to find out that a majority of Drexel students feel the exact same way. Curious about the hype Dayglow created, I decided to give it a chance and add it to my college experiences. It turns out that it was one of the best times of my life.

A first start for annual festival
As a big-city girl from a small-town kind of place, imagine my excitement to learn that the maiden voyage for a massive (and soon to be annual) event was coming my way. After witnessing months of advertising across the Kansas/Missouri area, thousands of ticket-holders flooded the gates of the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. Approximately 50,000 tickets were sold for each day of the two-day Kanrocksas Music Festival, which took place Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6.
