Blaze Pizza makes for strange fit on campus
Blaze Pizza opened on 34th Street and Lancaster Avenue Oct. 21, and offered one free pizza to every customer as a promotion and a way to let everyone sample their food. I walked over there after class with two friends, and we waited for over an hour in the cold before finally getting the chance to create our pizzas.

Blackbird’s offers great vegan pizza and wings
As I walk through the double doors of Blackbird’s entrance, I have to remind myself that I am not just entering a punk rock art gallery with only the aroma of pizza permeating my nostrils. It is in fact a pizzeria with amazing options for a hungry vegan.

Local pizza joint comes under new management
Village Pizza is under new ownership, and these guys are looking to make a strong impact on the local food scene. The same people who brought Jimmy John’s sandwich shop to University City have purchased the longtime pizza shop located on the 3200 block of Powelton Avenue in order to bring the students of Drexel University Pizza.Wings.Steaks., or as they call it, “P-Dubbz”.

Zavino will add to Chestnut’s menu

Rustica is worth the extra dough
When it comes to Italian food, you have to be adventurous. All too often I find myself attending group events where the organizers invariably make the decision to order the same dreary thing every single time: a tall stack of plain pizzas and another of, hold on to your seats ladies and gentlemen, pepperoni. Fine, I’ll eat them. Heck, I’ll even enjoy them. One should never be rude, and besides, all pizza tastes great, especially when compared to a big ol’ pile of nothing.

Small Italian chain perfects classics
Up for review this week is another of my Center City favorites. Since moving into the area I have found some great Italian food, and Pietro’s Coal Oven Pizzeria is just one example.

Pitruco Pizza truck a must-try
Americans love pizza, especially those living in Philadelphia and New Jersey. More than Italians? I don’t know. However, so many of us are not as particular as we should be when it comes to the thousands of unique varieties, styles and ingredients. The possibilities are overwhelming; seemingly endless combinations yield different flavors and tastes to experience. Unfortunately, most of us simply end up going to whichever pizza place is closest.
