Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive remain undefeated midway through season

Halfway through their season, both Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive started 2025 off strong with a 4-0 record after a win against Delaware last Saturday. This record signals promise for both programs, as the men’s team finished 2-3 and the women’s team finished 3-2 in the 2023-2024 season.

The women’s team had an impressive nine first place wins, which allowed them to narrowly defeat Delaware, with the final score being 150-144.

Brittany Corbett won three events, including the 1000 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle as well as the 400 Freestyle Relay with Mari Alencar, Megan Ehrnfeldt and Olivia Scherbin.

Alencar, Ehrnfeldt, Federica Nocera and Emma Pillich also won 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:45.39. Nocera also won the 100 Backstroke, finishing in 55.97 seconds.

Both Alencar and Ehrnfeldt won two more individual events, with Alencar winning the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle. Ehrnfeldt won the 200 Butterfly and the 100 Butterfly.

Due to her strong performance, Ehrnfeldt was able to earn Dragon of the Week and the CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week award.

The men were equally as good, winning 159.5-140.5. Key victories for the men’s team included the 200 Medley Relay event, where Theo Andreopoulos, Bartosz Loter, Jakub Kwasny and Sebastian Smith set a record time of 1:29.57. Andreopoulos, Kwasny, Smith and Reds Rullis also set a record in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:59.80.

Rullis won individual first place in the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle. Kwasny also won two additional individual races, the 200 Butterfly and the 100 Butterfly.

Smith broke two individual records during this meet, swimming the 50 Freestyle in 20.31 seconds and the 100 Freestyle in 44.42 seconds. These achievements earned him the Dragon of the Week award as well as CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week.

On the diving side, Joshua Gratton earned first place with a score of 285.53.

Both teams will be competing at Towson for their next meet, which takes place on Jan. 18 at 10 a.m.
