At Vidas field, a new-look Drexel women’s lacrosse team has stunned CAA competition. After dropping two of their first three games to UConn and UPenn, the Dragons have won ten straight, including all six CAA contests. Their 6-0 conference record matches only the Stony Brook Seawolves, who defeated Drexel last May in the CAA championship.

The Dragons have been led by a trio of veterans in the scoring department, as Allison Drake (36), Anna Maria Gragnani (36), and Bridget Finley (34) have all added big time production.

However, Drexel’s glue player this season has been Bea Buckley, the sophomore from Philadelphia. Last season, the attacker made her impact known, leading the team in assists as a freshman earning her a spot on the All-CAA Rookie Team. This season, Buckley has been everywhere for the Dragons, setting career highs in goals scored (19), assists (27), and ground balls (14).

In goal, it’s been another season of standout play from Jenika Cuocco. After leading the nation in save percentage last season, being named a pre-season All-American, the expectations were high for the red-shirt junior coming into 2025. Although her 48% save percentage is down from last year, Cuocco’s 9.04 goals allowed per game has stayed identical to last season.

Supported by a high scoring Dragons team, Cuocco and Drexel sit at 11-2. After earning a pre-season top 25 spot, the Dragons have remained towards the top of the nation in Inside Lacrosse’s rankings, currently sitting at 21. Stony Brook, despite recently falling to Princeton, has been similarly dominant to the Dragons, and stand as #20 in the country.

The Seawolves are led by attacker Charlotte Wilmoth, who ranks third in the CAA in goals per game, and second in points per game. Stony Brook’s squad has been battle tested this season, facing three top-25 opponents including Princeton, John Hopkins, and Denver, who they defeated. Both school’s women’s lacrosse programs on are on the rise, with both the Seawolves and Dragons seeking another NCAA berth this May.

Drexel takes on their toughest opponent in conference on the road this Friday, as the team will travel to LaValle Stadium to face Stony Brook. In an expected high-powered, top-25 matchup.Fans can tune in on Flo College at 6pm, to watch and see if the Dragons can continue their win streak to 11.
