World Cafe Live welcomes Colombian singer Kali Uchis
Few artists can cultivate a cult following without releasing a proper album, but Kali Uchis is one of them. The D.C.-raised Colombian singer’s last proper project came out almost three years ago, and yet she’s still able to sell out concerts and work with major musicians like Tyler, the Creator and the Gorillaz. Nowhere was her potential stardom more obvious than at her sold-out headlining show at the World Cafe Live Oct. 18.

Made in America: Jay-Z, Migos party on despite weather
On Labor Day Weekend, the City of Brotherly Love flooded onto Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the 10th annual Made in America Festival. The musical festival, curated by New York rapper and mogul Jay-Z, featured an eclectic array of hip-hop, electronic and indie music featuring artists such as Solange, Marian Hill, Vic Mensa and the Chainsmokers over Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2-3. Headlined by Jay-Z himself and fellow rapper J. Cole, the two day festival was a fantastic, albeit wet way to usher in the fall.

Tim and Eric bring their eccentric comedy to Philly
Comedy duo and fellow Philadelphians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim brought their “10 Year Anniversary Awesome Tour!” to the Merriam Theater July 20. They were traveling to promote the 10-year anniversary of their cult-classic TV show “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” The packed audience was treated to a night of hilarity and surprises.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ succeeds with flying colors
When is it time to stop reinventing a series? One would think that three separate movie adaptions in less than 15 years would be overkill. Yet the Spider-Man franchise released the third movie adaption of the classic character this week, marking it the seventh major motion picture in 15 years to prominently feature the character.
