The Awesome Fest Presents Drive-In Movie Theater

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the drive-in movie theater. To celebrate this distinct slice of Americana, The Awesome Fest is proud to announce the creation of its very own drive-in at one of the most beautiful settings that Philadelphia has to offer: Eakins Oval, directly in front of the majestic Philadelphia Museum of Art. Opening Oct. 18 with weekly double features through Nov. 22, The Awesome Fest will transport attendees back in time on a nostalgic trip to experience the drive-in during its heyday, complete with food servers on roller skates, courtesy of the Philly Roller Girls.

Eakins Oval, 2601 Benjamin Franklin Parkway

Fridays, Oct. 18-Nov. 22, except Nov. 15

Cost: 25 cents for Enterprise CarShare members, $19.33 for nonmembers, free for guests without a car

Bloktoberfest

Bloktoberfest — an all-ages, free-to-attend celebration of beer, food, music and Philly — will be returning for its fifth year, taking over four blocks of South Street between 18th and Broad streets. In partnership with the South of South Neighborhood Association, South Street West Business Association and Bella Vista Beer Distributors, Bloktoberfest will once again showcase a wide selection of beer by craft breweries from around the country, food from neighborhood vendors and food trucks, and multiple stages with live music featuring nationally recognized and emerging local acts. The event is not for profit; beer proceeds will be directed back into a variety of neighborhood initiatives addressing education, green space and public safety.
