Young swimmers meet success in NYU Invitational
The Drexel University men’s swimming team took to the water Feb. 5 and 6 in the New York University Invitational. The men’s team had been swimming extremely well, coming into this invitational having won their past five meets. However, this meet did not keep team scores. On Friday, Greg Buckley, Cameron Hoyer and Ted Dickerson swam in three races. Buckley took sixth place in the 200 back, touching the wall at 1:58.89. There were notable performance from both teams, but only the men’s team was able to come away with a victory. Even with the loss, the women’s team had multiple top finishes. The Drexel University men’s and women’s swim teams competed at the AT&T Winter National Championships from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5. This was their final match until returning to water on Jan. 3 and 4 for the Georgia Diving Invitational. The Drexel swimming and diving teams are off to a fine start this season as both the men’s and women’s teams head into the Pittsburgh Invitational this weekend, Nov. 22-23. But that wasn’t the case in the men’s Colonial Athletic Association swimming championship, as the University of North Carolina Wilmington claimed its 13th straight title March 1. There was some excitement to be found from the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams following their performance Nov. 22-24 in the Frank Elm Invitational at the Rutgers University Aquatic Center. The Drexel swimming and diving teams continued their dominance in the water Nov. 2 as they defeated George Washington University. The Dragons performed very well in their first home meet of the season. The Drexel swimming and diving teams traveled to Baltimore to take on Loyola University Maryland, Lafayette College and Seton Hall University Oct. 26. The men’s team conquered the meet with wins against all three opponents to remain undefeated for the season; they beat Loyola 196-103, Lafayette 208-90 and Seton Hall 207-89.
