Fashion Month has officially come to an end, but we are left with plenty to look forward to in the coming seasons. With beautiful presentations starting in New York, traveling to London, Milan and wrapping up in Paris, we’ve had our fair share of fashion envy these past four weeks. We will be reviewing the biggest trends on the runway in New York, as well as some fashion history made along the way!

The New DKNY

When Donna Karen stepped down from her position as chief designer of Donna Karan International this summer, we were all curious as to what the new DKNY would look like. Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne put an end to our curiosity when they sent their debut looks down the New York runway. The designer duo put a modern twist on the classic brand using a very minimal color palette of black, white, grey, and a hint of blue. While critiques of the collection ranged from praise to disappointment, we cannot wait to see where Chow and Osborne will take the brand in the future.

Brandon Maxwell

When it was announced that Lady Gaga’s longtime stylist Brandon Maxwell would be presenting his first collection at New York Fashion Week, we did not know what to expect. Contrary to what many anticipated, Maxwell sent a collection of sleek and sexy looks down the runway. Featuring a simple color palette of black, ivory, and dusty pink, Maxwell’s show exuded an air of elegance and has us looking forward to what he will create next.

Fringe

Fringe was a major trend on the New York runways and we could not get enough! We saw this trend gracing hemlines across the city and love this playful detail because it can add an element of fun to any look. Designers including Marc Jacobs, Delpozo and Prabal Gurung were some of the shows that served us fabulous fringe looks.

Off the Shoulder

From cutouts to totally bare, the off-the-shoulder look was a trend we spotted quite frequently during fashion week. Designers including Givenchy, Creatures of the Wind, and Edun gave us flawless looks featuring this trend. Looks like we’ll have an even more fashionable way to stay cool during spring and summer!

Slouchy Ruffles

Rather than tight and bunchy ruffles, designers including Jason Wu, Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler gave us a more fluid version of this trend. By using these loose ruffles sparingly, designers enabled this trend to add a chic and girly element without being over the top. We have never seen ruffles looking more fashionable and wearable!

Bright Orange

Designers went all out this season when it came to vibrant colors, and more specifically bright orange. Altuzzara, Lacoste and Narciso Rodriguez all turned one of the most feared colors into one that every style icon will be wearing this spring. The shocking color can be borderline overwhelming when it makes up an entire look, but here, orange is looking sleek and stylish.
